Why Pilates?

We are very often asked what is the difference between Yoga and Pilates and really that comes from the intention of the work.

Pilates is more functional than Yoga but just like Yoga, Pilates is not a means to an end but a practice that is progressive and one that you take into everyday life and activities.

Many clients find the studio as they have been advised by Surgeons, GPs, Chiropractors, Osteopaths and Physiotherapists to practice Pilates to learn to support the spine and change their posture to help them come out of pain.

Clients often continue their practice after coming out of pain as they can see and feel improvement to their overall well being physically, mentally and spiritually.

We teach whole body movement and whole body health with the help of the Pilates equipment. Mr Pilates studied the ancient art of Yoga as well as other activities before as he evolved his own practice so many shapes and designs are very similar and many clients decide to also develop a Yoga practice alongside their Pilates. It is not an either/or, they can work in harmony if that is what suits.
