It's hardly surprising that many of us have tight hips...


We spend much of our time being sedentary and a lot of time sitting down - to travel, to work, to socialise, to relax.
Modern life is often hectic and stressful, stimulating our fight or flight reflex which causes our hip flexors to grab.
Energetically the hips are the seat of our emotions, which should allow the body to adapt and change with whatever life throws at us. However, our emotional energy often gets trapped creating tension and restricted movement in the hips.


If the hips don't move, nor do we!


Tightness in the hips restricts the movement of the legs and the spine and can lead to secondary problems in the back and also in the knees, ankles and feet. Emotionally it can leave us rigid and stuck.

We are all individual, so there's no one magic answer that works for everyone.


So come and spend a morning discovering how and where you have movement and where you don't. We'll explore lots of different ways of releasing the tension in the hips, allowing you to let go and find more movement in your body and more freedom in your mind.


This workshop is suitable for anyone with tight hips (most of us!), tight hamstrings (many of us!), tight lower back (far too many of us!) or anyone who finds going with the flow of life to be a challenge...

Yin Yoga, as a practice for deep inner peace and relaxation invites us to reconnect in a gentle and compassionate way with our body, mind and soul. By holding poses for a longer period it increases our ability to be in the present moment and slowly brings us closer to our authentic self.

Yin Yoga invites us to meet our inner resistance and shows us how to find a place of comfort in a not-so-comfortable place as well as noticing our thoughts and reactions from a perspective of calmness.

A weekend of yoga a calling back, a singing in, a homecoming, to our highest state of Being through the practices of breath, song, earth, wisdom, yoga, movement and stillness, in kinship with soul friends and a deep rapport with the Rhythm of the natural world.


Yoga sessions will be all levels, woven with Breath, Meditation, Poetry, Story, Music and alignment based Yoga.


The morning classes will be a more active solar practice inviting and awakening strength and openings in your Heart, Body and Mind.

Afternoon Evening classes will have a gentler restorative focus inviting a lunar renewal and illuminating experience to replenish your Body, Mind and Soul.

Workshop details

As the cold weather descends it is time to retreat indoors for a nourishing day of self-care and relaxation.


The morning session will be dedicated to iRest® Yoga Nidra.iRest is a simple form of meditation designed for modern day living. Our busy lives can leave us feeling ill at ease and emotionally vulnerable.iRest can help you tap into a place that is calm – even when life is not. Easy to learn and evidence based, iRest has been shown to help people heal from stress, insomnia, depression, PTSD, chronic pain and chemical dependency.
Jo is a certified iRest® Yoga Nidra level 1 teacher; more information can be found at https://www.irest.us/; but the best way to understand iRest is to experience it!


In the afternoon we will explore the principles and techniques behind restorative yoga. In this lovely relaxing style of yoga, poses are held for several minutes at a time whilst the body is completely supported by blankets, blocks and bolsters.
The practice encourages deep muscle release and has been shown to relieve fatigue, aid digestion, and help insomnia. Expect to come away armed with the knowledge for a simple home practice.


Both sessions are suitable for beginners and seasoned yogis alike. If you have enjoyed the Sunday De-Stress this year and would like to take a deeper dive into the practices used in these sessions this is the perfect opportunity.

A magical mix of Yoga and a creative coaching tool to invite you to some deep and powerful intention setting and purposeful creating of a vision for your near or longer future.
We start with an active Yoga practice to open us up for what we like to invite into our lives. In the next step, by using an adaptation of the MAP process we are creating an image of our journey and our dreams. After this creative part we move through a Yin Yoga practice exploring emotions and feelings and allowing an integration of your vision on a deeper level.
The workshop is suitable for all abilities and ages as well as promising lots of insight and fun. Don’t let yourself be held back by an old belief ‘I am not creative'.


About Martina

How Yoga relates to day-to-day experiences and impacts our body, mind and spirit interconnectedness on a deep level, has been always a fascination for Martina since she fallen in love with Yoga over 20 years ago. Many of the concepts of this ancient tradition can be related to findings of modern psychology. In her professional carrier in supporting and accompanying children, young people and adults in very challenging life circumstances she used Yoga in a holistic way to empower her clients, help to create spaces for wellbeing and a sense of empowerment.

Martina is a Yoga teacher and holds a master’s degree in Social Pedagogy specialist in humanistic counselling, community work, education and health promotion.
