Shiva – the Lord of Yoga – is the representation of the Supreme, the Divine, God, however you choose to name it. The 5 Acts (panca-kryta) are what Shiva does, in fact they are all s/he ever does. So everything that is happening in the Universe expresses one or more of these 5 acts. These acts take place on all scales and are expressions of the Power of Action: from the grand processes of the creation and dissolution of this entire Universe, to the subtle rising and dissolving of your own personal inner experience.
Shiva acts and dances through each of us. When we understand the panca-kryta and how we participate in it, we become empowered to act in ways which bring more beauty and splendour into our lives. We can consciously choose to align our actions, thoughts and words with the very heart of who we are and what we want to offer to this world.
Come and join me for a morning of playful self-expression as we discover these Divine Acts within our practice and within ourselves.
Come and enjoy this little known but beautifully illuminatory tale of the great sage Vyaghrapada and his meeting in the forest with another seeker – Patanjali. Both come to worship at the Shrine of Lord Shiva, each in their own unique way. These different and unlikely friends form a bond which celebrates both their similarities – their love of Shiva; and their differences – one is half snake and the other has Tiger paws.
When we can remember the simple truths in this great teaching , we can come to seek what unites us even as we recognise, celebrate and offer our unique characters to the world. This workshop weaves a great story, whilst empowering us to offer ourselves fully and completely as a gift to Life itself.
The whole Universe of existence is a play of 3 forces or energies, often depicted as 3 unique and beautiful Goddesses in the Indian traditions.
All the comes into being evolves out of the fertile ground of being by the force of creation governed Saraswati, the Goddess of order, structure and know-how. She governs knowledge, science, literature and the arts. Creation is sustained for a period of time by Lakshmi, the goddess of abundance, beauty and refinement: mere science gives way to art. At the end of the cycle Kali, the divine mother destroys all and returns it back to the fertile ground, just as Autumn returns nature back to the soil. It is from this very Kali ground that the next cycle emerges.
Celebrating and exploring the 3 goddesses, discover that all 3 exist in you, as you and start to examine which goddess energy would serve you in bringing your dreams to fruition. Focusing particularly on Kali, the dark mother who fuels our deepest desires, takes us to our edge and asks “what do really want?” we will playful and powerfully explore the scope of who we are with arm balances, courage and as always, humour.
