Amanda Harrington

Over the past 20 years I have been a fitness enthusiast, a keen gym person with a love for running , hiking and climbing.

I was first made aware of the benefits of Pilates by a surgeon following a knee operation, who recommended I develop my core strength and deal with my muscle imbalances to prevent further injury. But due to a demanding and stressful career with many hours spent in a car or in long pointless meetings, I never made the time to attend.

However, following a serious car accident in 2006 with many months of painful physiotherapy, I was yet again encouraged to try Pilates.

After several gentle and progressive sessions, my back strengthened, my posture improved and my whole self awareness increased. I felt the benefits every day, I held myself differently in meetings and I had the confidence to take up running again.

Towards the end of 2008 and with my 40th birthday looming, I walked away from my career of 16 years, feeling a bit lost and disheartened. The only thing I truly enjoyed doing was being active and keeping fit.

This led me to train as a fitness instructor and Pilates teacher, with advanced training still ongoing. I feel very lucky and very excited to have both Claire and Sam's support in starting up new classes at the studio and can't wait to begin to help people experience the benefits that I feel every day.
